I have had a 7710 for almost 4 years and have been very happy but few days ago it froze on receiving an SMS message and I had to remove the battery to try and restart the phone as it use to happen every once in a while before.
However this time it refused to restart. The Nokia logo appears then the screen goes blank for a few seconds and then it goes off first and comes back on again and then the whole procedure repeats again and again. I tried the method described in some of the threads here for formatting the phone but it doesn't work.
Just to say that I have always kept the phone very well and it has never been dropped or exposed to any thing that it shouldn't be.
I live in Croatia and there are very few places that can flash the phone here and they charge rather a lot for doing it.
I found a place in Zagreb where they can service all kinds of phones but the guy had never seen one of these before(7710). Not many were sold here in croatia. Anyway! Tried to have the phone flashed using various different boxes but to no avail! Gives some error.
I downloaded the phoneix software. I get the message "Neither DP1.0 nor DP2.0 was found for the product, or the product cannot be identified."
I tried to place folders with flash files in the Nokia/Phoneix/Products directory but it still doesn't find the files!
I discovered that I was using the incorrect data package. Anyway I found the correct software at blue-nokia website and installed. However now I can get the product code etc but the option to flash the phone is greyed out (not available). Obviously the phoenix software is not cracked and it doesn't work without the nokia dongle etc! Sad but true. However I also managed to download the nokia service manual from blue-nokia and it appears that my phone might have a faulty resistor; hence the inability of the phone repair man being able to be flash even by trying different boxes/dongles!
Have to check the resistor that could be the problem as per the service manual and replace it if that's the reason.
If anyone is interested, they can get the Nokia data package and service manuals from blue-nokia.com
Will post an update if/when! |

Hi
Haven't been able to get hold of the very tiny surface mount resistors (type 0402R) as yet so nothing! Although if it's not the resistors and one of the main chips then the phone is unrepairable. |
